Youth are encouraged to participate in the life of the diocese as Youth Delegates at Convention. Like other lay leadership, youth delegates are elected by their parish, typically at the annual meeting.

How do I register for the Youth Pre-Convention Conference?
All youth delegates are strongly encouraged to attend the Pre-Convention Conference on Sunday, October 14th at the Mercer School of Theology (65 Fourth Street, Garden City, NY 11530). The Pre-Convention Conference includes food, games, prayer and fellowship with other youth delegates from across the Diocese. It is the best way to prepare for the Convention, make friends and network prior to the November Diocesan Convention. Register online for the Pre-Convention Conference no later than Wednesday, October 10th (see button below).
Where is Diocesan Convention?
Convention is held at the Long Island Marriott Hotel in Uniondale, NY (101 James Doolittle Blvd, Uniondale, NY 11553). Convention will take place on Friday, November 16th and the Eucharist celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Diocese (with Presiding Bishop Michael B. Curry) on Saturday, November 17th.
Do I need to bring a permission slip? Do I need a chaperone?
All youth delegates must bring a signed permission slip and must be accompanied by an adult that is a registered youth chaperone or registered delegate from his or her parish. This adult must remain onsite while the youth delegate is at the hotel.
What should I wear to Convention?
Business Attire for all meetings and worship services is appropriate; “Dress to Impress” for the Diocesan Social Gathering on Friday evening. (No jeans, sneakers, tank tops; belts should be worn with pants; skirts and dresses should be an appropriate length.)
What time does Convention begin?
Convention registration opens at 7:30AM on Friday, November 16th and Convention convenes promptly at 9:00AM. The youth breakout sessions will be held in the Chardonnay Room & the Long Island University Room. The exact schedule will be determined closer to the start of Convention.
Do I need to register for Convention?
Yes. All youth delegates must register online for the Convention (Friday lunch is included in the $65 price). Please check with your parish to see if you have been registered for the Convention. Visit www.dioceseli.org/convention for more details and to register online.
Is there a separate dinner for youth delegates?
No. All members of the Diocese will dine together at the Social Gathering on Friday. The cost for the Social Gathering is an additional $75 per person.
What time does Convention end?
Convention closes at approximately 5:00PM on Friday, November 16th followed by dinner and dancing at 7:00PM (an additional ticket is required for dinner).
