Rev Landon MooreJune 07, 2022

Bishop Provenzano today announced that he has appointed the Rev. Landon M. Moore Vicar for Vocation, a newly created diocesan part-time position.

Fr. Moore will serve as a point person for those who are considering or in the discernment process for ordained ministry as well as for those seeking specialized lay ministries. He will partner with Bishop Provenzano, other staff, and with the chair of the Diocesan Committee on Ministry to identify, encourage, and support the next generation of ordained and lay leaders in the ministry of the diocese.

Fr. Moore also will work with Canon Claire Wodley, Canon for Congregational Support, and attend national conferences and annual seminary meetings to recruit priests for open positions in the diocese.

Bishop Provenzano said, “Since his arrival in 2019, Father Moore has been a gift to the Diocese of Long Island. He has already invited and encouraged several people who have entered the discernment process. As the Episcopal Church faces a current shortage of clergy, Fr. Moore's energy and gift for facilitating discernment will be a great help.”

The Reverend Landon M. Moore is currently priest-in-charge of St. George’s, Brooklyn. He previously served as associate priest at St. Mark’s, Brooklyn, where he was ordained in 2019. Fr. Moore is secretary of the Diocesan Black Clergy Caucus and serves on the National Youth and Young Adult Committee of the Union of Black Episcopalians.

Fr. Moore, originally from Saratoga, New York, was a member of Bethesda Church, Saratoga Springs. He earned a Bachelor of Philosophy and Religion degree from Marist College and received a Master of Divinity degree from Berkeley Divinity School at Yale University."
