Dear Clergy, Choir Directors, Organists, and Singers,
As we prepare for the Consecration of the Rev. Dr. Adam J. Shoemaker as the Ninth Bishop of Long Island on Saturday, September 19, 2026, we invite singers from across the Diocese of Long Island to come together as a diocesan choir for this joyful and historic occasion.
Please note: This invitation is specifically for those who wish to sing in the diocesan choir. Information about general event registration, hotel accommodations, and other attendee details will be shared with the diocese in a separate communication later this week.
Clergy are warmly invited to participate in this liturgy either by joining the diocesan choir or by vesting and processing with other clergy. More detailed information about clergy participation, vesting, and procession, will be distributed separately.
We encourage clergy, choir directors, organists, and parish leaders to share this invitation with members of their choirs and anyone in their congregations who may be interested in singing for this special occasion.
Join the Diocesan Choir
We are seeking singers from every corner of our diocese to lend their voices in celebration as we welcome our Ninth Bishop. Whether you sing regularly in your parish choir or simply enjoy sharing your gifts in worship, we hope you will consider being part of this memorable day.

As a relative newcomer to the Diocese of Long Island, I am delighted to be part of this historic occasion and look forward to partnering in music leadership with Quincy Dover, Director of Music at St. Philip's, Bedford-Stuyvesant, and David Preston, Associate Director of Music at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, as we prepare for this celebration.
You will hear more from us soon after registration is complete.
Quincy, David, and I are all very much looking forward to working together with you all in preparing inspiring choral music for this event!
