The Diocese of Long Island is engaged in a sacred and hopeful season of discernment as we prepare for the ordination and consecration of our ninth bishop on September 19, 2026. The commitment of the Transition Committee is to guide this process with prayer, transparency, integrity, and deep listening—honoring the ministry of our current bishop while preparing to welcome the bishop-elect, and ensuring a smooth, grace-filled path toward ordination.
For seventeen years, the Rt. Rev. Lawrence C. Provenzano, Eighth Bishop of Long Island, has served this diocese with faith, courage, creativity, and deep pastoral love.
