Eucharistic Visitors are active lay members of the Church who are licensed by the bishop to administer bread and wine at Holy Communion and, when needed, to bring the sacrament to parishioners who are hospitalized or homebound.
This is a deeply pastoral ministry, helping ensure that those unable to attend services in person remain connected to the life and worship of the Church.
Those interested in becoming licensed Eucharistic Visitors should be confirmed communicants in good standing and recommended by their parish priest. Before being licensed, candidates must also complete a background check and Safe Church training through their parish.
Eucharistic Visitor Training, offered through the Mercer School, is required for all candidates.
A suggested donation of $20 per participant may be brought on the day of the training.
Those interested in becoming licensed Eucharistic Visitors must be registered by their parish clergy.
