The Trinity Community Art Center cordially invites you to an evening lecture featuring Jessica Rosen, Assistant Curator at the Heckscher Museum of Art. Queer Artists Overlooked by History is an engaging presentation exploring the lives and work of LGBTQ+ artists whose contributions to art history were often overlooked, marginalized, or erased because of their identities.
Through historical research and contemporary curatorial perspectives, this lecture will examine how these artists shaped the cultural landscape despite the barriers they faced. Grounded in feminist and queer theory, Jessica Rosen will discuss the importance of recognizing these artists, preserving their legacies, and reexamining the narratives presented in museums and art history. The lecture will conclude with a 30-minute audience Q&A, providing an opportunity for thoughtful discussion and conversation.
Jessica Rosen serves as Assistant Curator at the Heckscher Museum of Art. She earned her Master’s degree in Arts & Heritage: Policy, Management, and Education from Maastricht University in the Netherlands, and her Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from Colgate University. Her recent curatorial work includes Embracing the Parallax: Berenice Abbott and Elizabeth McCausland (2025).
Please RSVP by emailing mailto:TCACNPT@gmail.com.
This lecture is open to artists, educators, students, historians, museum professionals, and all members of the public interested in art history, social justice, and the enduring contributions of LGBTQ+ artists whose stories deserve greater recognition. We hope you will join us for an evening of scholarship, reflection, and meaningful conversation.
With every good wish,
