As preparations continue for the 160th Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island, Bishop Adam Shoemaker shares a video reflection introducing the theme guiding our upcoming gathering: "One body, many members."
Drawing inspiration from Saint Paul’s metaphor of the Church as a physical body, Bishop Adam emphasizes how our interconnectedness shapes our shared mission across Nassau, Suffolk, Brooklyn, and Queens. With nearly 130 diverse congregations expressing faith through unique cultures, languages, and traditions, our unity in Christ remains our central strength.
"While we have different expressions of the faith, we need one another. Everyone is valued. Everyone is important to the welfare and well-being of the whole diocese."
As we enter this new season together, all members of the diocese are invited to consider how we can build up the Body of Christ and serve a world deeply in need of the gospel.
