Bishop Provenzano blesses the Cathedral of the Incarnation's Forecourt

The Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City and the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island celebrated a milestone last Sunday, as congregants gathered to celebrate the completion of the new Cathedral Forecourt and honor the extraordinary 17-year episcopacy of the Rt. Rev. Lawrence Provenzano.

The dedication of the forecourt marks the culmination of a nine-year accessibility initiative, removing all physical barriers to entry and extending sacred space directly out into the community.

Preaching from the Cathedral pulpit for the final time as bishop diocesan, Bishop Provenzano delivered a powerful homily on the transformational power of forgiveness and radical welcome. Reminding us that love is an active commitment rather than a mere feeling, he dedicated the new entryway as a lasting, physical symbol of unobstructed grace for all people.

Below you will find reflections on the day from Bishop Provenzano and Dean Michael Sniffen, as well as the full sermon recording, and photos from the day.
