Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ Jesus,
I write this day to share the wonderful news that our friend, Bishop Philip Wright, Diocesan Bishop of Belize, has been elected to serve as the next Archbishop of the Province of the West Indies.
This is terrific news for the Church in the Province of the West Indies as well as our own diocese. Bishop Wright, now Archbishop Wright, is a dear friend and colleague—a frequent visitor to our diocese and a companion in ministry. His election follows the retirement last December of Archbishop Howard Gregory.
Bishop Wright is a man of tremendous dignity, humility, and wisdom. He has shared his gifts with many of us—preaching and presiding in our cathedral, participating in program and planning for the future of theological education and formation, and offering his insight and energy as a colleague bishop ever since the last Lambeth Conference.
We offer our continued prayers and full support for Archbishop Wright and his wife, Carla, as they enter this time of transition and added responsibility in the Province of the West Indies and the worldwide Anglican Communion.
May God bless them each, bless the Diocese of Belize, and bless the Province of the West Indies. God is good, all the time!
With much affection, prayers and blessings,

The Rt. Rev. Lawrence C. Provenzano, DD
Bishop of Long Island
