The Creation Care Community of the Diocese of Long Island presented the 2024 Diocesan Celebration of Earth Day, Saturday April 20th at 11 AM at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City. 

The festivities included a Celebration of the Eucharist for Earth Day. The Right Reverend Lawrence C. Provenzano, Bishop of Long Island, presided. Kyle Pope, co-founder of Covering Climate Now and a member of St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Pro-Cathedral, preached the sermon.

Before devoting himself full-time to climate work, Kyle worked for decades in the news business, as a reporter, foreign correspondent, and editor in chief. His work has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Nation, and elsewhere, and he has testified before Congress's Judiciary Committee about threats to the press. He is a member of the vestry at St Ann and the Holy Trinity, and lives in Brooklyn with his wife and three children.
