On Sunday, August 9, the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island and Iglesia San Francisco celebrated the rededication of their historic 1871 church home following extensive campus renovations. The updated space provides a permanent, accessible sanctuary for the mission, which serves Spanish-speaking families and farmworkers on the East End alongside Rural & Migrant Ministry.
The celebration began with a ribbon cutting by Bishop Lawrence C. Provenzano and Fr. Luis Lopez. Striking the doors three times, the Bishop proclaimed, "Let the doors be open!" as church bells rang to welcome the congregation inside.
The service included prayer, song, and the anointing of the altar with holy chrism before parishioners dressed it for the Eucharist. The sanctuary lamp was then lit for the first time, signifying Christ's presence in the renewed space. The day concluded with a festive reception featuring traditional dancing, cake, and a presentation honoring Bishop Provenzano.
