Dear People of the Diocese of Long Island,
Welcome to the Bishop Transition Process!
The Diocese of Long Island continues to be engaged in a sacred and hopeful season of discernment as we prepare to call our ninth bishop. As the Search Committee completes its ministry and soon presents the final slate of candidates, the Transition Committee now begins its work of accompanying the diocese through every stage of what comes next. We are grateful for the many prayers, conversations, and faithful efforts that have brought us to this moment.
We undertake this ministry committed to prayer, transparency, integrity, and deep listening, trusting that God is present and active in the life of our diocese and in the voices of its people. Our hope is to serve the whole diocese with care and clarity as, together, we listen for where the Holy Spirit is leading.
In the months ahead, we invite clergy and parishioners across the diocese to learn about the candidates, participate in listening sessions and diocesan gatherings, and join together in prayer for the future of the Diocese of Long Island. This is a shared journey, and your engagement, questions, reflections, and prayers are an essential part of the discernment entrusted to us.
More information about coming events, resources, and ways to participate will be shared soon. We invite you to stay connected by regularly visiting the Bishop Search page, where updates and announcements will be posted as they become available.
Please continue to hold this process, the candidates, and our diocese in your prayers as we seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit together.
In Christ,
The Transition Committee for the Ninth Bishop of Long Island
