St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway was recently featured in an article by QNS highlighting its soon-to-open, state-of-the-art Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit. Set to open this summer, the unit represents a major step forward in improving maternal health services for families across the Rockaway Peninsula, Five Towns, and surrounding communities.

The new unit will offer six private suites where patients can remain throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care—enhancing comfort, family bonding, and continuity of care. Part of a broader modernization initiative by Episcopal Health Services, the LDRP unit aims to meet the growing healthcare needs of the diverse, historically underserved population of southern Queens and western Nassau County.

“This is more than just a new unit, it’s a reflection of how deeply we value the women and families who entrust us with their care,” said Dr. Jacqueline Marecheau, Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology at EHS.

Each suite is designed with family-centered amenities and advanced neonatal care equipment, with rooming-in and sleeper couches for loved ones. The project was developed in response to community input and made possible through public and private support.
