Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
It is with sadness that we share the news of the death of the Rev. Canon Charles E. Schnabel, who died today, June 16, at the age of 90.
Canon Schnabel was ordained to the priesthood by the Bishop DeWolfe on October 28, 1961. As one of the longest-serving priests of the Diocese of Long Island, he devoted more than six decades of faithful ministry to the service of Christ and His Church. Throughout those years, he was a steadfast pastor, wise counselor, and devoted servant of God's people. We give thanks for his life, his priestly vocation, and his enduring witness to the Gospel.
Please keep Canon Schnabel, his family, friends, and all who mourn his death in your prayers. As we grieve his passing, we do so in the sure and certain hope of the Resurrection, commending him to the merciful care of our loving God.
Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Funeral arrangements will be announced when they become available.
Faithfully,

The Rev. Canon Eddie Alleyne
Canon for Pastoral Care
