Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
It is with sadness, yet with confidence in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, that I share with you the news of the death of the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Henry, who entered the nearer presence of our Lord on June 24, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born in Belize, Fr. Henry was ordained to the priesthood in 1971 and faithfully served Christ and His Church for more than five decades. After beginning his ministry in the Anglican Diocese of Belize, he arrived in the Diocese of Long Island, where he served as assistant priest at St. Mark's, Brooklyn and rector of St. Augustine's in Brooklyn from 1981-1998. Throughout his following years of ministry, he also provided faithful interim leadership to several congregations across the diocese, including Trinity–St. John's, Hewlett; All Saints', Park Slope; Church of the Advent, Westbury; St. Gabriel's, Hollis; and All Saints', Woodhaven.
Fr. Henry's commitment to serving God's people extended beyond the Church. From 1994 to 2001, he served as a member of the New York City Council, where he was widely recognized for his dedication to his community and chaired several sub-committees.
We give thanks to God for Fr. Henry's faithful priestly ministry, his generous public service, and his steadfast witness to the Gospel. We commend him to God's eternal care and pray for his wife, Beverley; his children, Sean, Desirée, and Tracy; his brother, Gerald; and all who mourn his passing.
Details concerning funeral arrangements will be shared as they become available.
Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon him.
May his soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Faithfully,

The Rev. Canon Eddie Alleyne
Canon for Pastoral Care
