As we prepare for the Ordination and Consecration of the Rev. Dr. Adam J. Shoemaker as the Ninth Bishop of the Diocese of Long Island on Saturday, September 19, 2026, we are seeking experienced parish ushers to assist in welcoming and caring for all who will gather for this joyful and historic celebration in the life of our Diocese.
Volunteers should have experience serving as ushers in their home parishes and be comfortable welcoming guests, providing directions, assisting with seating, and helping the congregation before, during, and following the service.
Due to the size and significance of this liturgy, all ushers selected to serve must also be available Saturday, September 19th at 8:00 a.m. for an on-site rehearsal and orientation at the Tilles Center on campus of LIU Post, 720 Northern Blvd. Brookville, NY 11548
If you are an experienced usher and would be willing to offer your ministry of hospitality on this very special occasion, we invite you to indicate your willingness to serve.
All volunteer ushers must also register separately to attend the Ordination and Consecration Service.
Please note: Indicating your willingness to serve as an usher does not guarantee that you will be selected to serve on the day of the Ordination and Consecration. Because the number of ushers needed is limited, volunteers will be selected based on the needs of the service, and those chosen to serve will receive confirmation and further instructions in advance.
