On June 13, 2026, the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island celebrated the ordination and reception of five new priests at the Cathedral of the Incarnation.
In his sermon, the Rt. Rev. Lawrence C. Provenzano addresses the ordinands directly on the realities and boundaries of ordained ministry. Reflecting on the Gospel of the Good Shepherd, he reminds them that priesthood is a lifelong sacramental identity, not a standard career. He challenges the candidates to maintain healthy boundaries and prioritize their spiritual formation , counseling them: “Never allow yourself to be seen or understood as a victim or as one without any choices".
