The Rev. Canon Eddie Alleyne serves as the Canon for Pastoral Care for the Diocese of Long Island.
Canon Alleyne's work is centered on supporting the spiritual and organizational health of clergy, lay leadership, and congregations. In this role, Canon Alleyne will work closely with active and retired clergy and their families, offering pastoral care, encouragement, and guidance, while fostering spiritually vibrant, mission-focused congregational life across the diocese.
Canon Alleyne serves as a pastoral resource to clergy and their families, lay leaders, and diocesan staff, providing consultation, tools, and support during times of transition, challenge, and growth. His ministry includes collaboration with the Mercer School of Theology and Episcopal Ministries of Long Island to strengthen stewardship formation, leadership development, and access to educational and spiritual resources. He also maintains a close working relationship with retired clergy, serving as chaplain, coordinating pastoral visits, and supporting opportunities for connection and care within that community.
In addition, he plays a vital role in coordinating diocesan pastoral responses on behalf of the diocesan bishop, including prayer requests, clergy support in times of illness or emergency, and follow-up on relief initiatives and partnerships. Through this work, Canon Alleyne will help ensure that pastoral needs are met both within and beyond congregational settings.
Canon Alleyne continues to serve at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in this role, assisting with Sunday masses, and leading the Cathedral's pastoral care team.
Canon Alleyne most recently served as Sub-Dean and Canon for Cathedral Life at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. He has ministered in parishes in Brooklyn for more than two decades and most recently served at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Westbury. His leadership experience includes chairing the Transition Committee following the election of the Rt. Rev. Lawrence C. Provenzano as the eighth Bishop of Long Island. A native of Barbados, Canon Alleyne is a graduate of Codrington College, the oldest Anglican seminary in the Western Hemisphere.
Canon Alleyne is married to Kay, and they are the parents of John, Nathan, and Krissy. Their family also includes three four-legged companions, Zee, Apollo, and Jessie. In his leisure time, Canon Alleyne enjoys chess and a range of sports, including cricket, tennis, and badminton.
