Bishop Allotey

The Rt. Rev. Daniel S. A. Allotey served as the Bishop of Cape Coast, Ghana, for eleven years. The Diocese of Cape Coast is part of the Church of the Province of West Africa within the Anglican Communion. In 2014, he began his ministry in the Diocese of Long Island as Assisting Bishop, where he faithfully served until his death.

In addition to his diocesan work, Bishop Allotey was Bishop-in-Residence at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, Brooklyn, and previously served as Interim Pastor at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, Brooklyn. Throughout his ministry, he fostered enduring and fruitful partnerships between the Diocese of Cape Coast and the Diocese of Long Island through St. Augustine’s, Trinity Church Wall Street, and the Scottish Episcopal Diocese of Edinburgh. He also maintained strong ties between the Diocese of Portsmouth and the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in the United Kingdom.

Bishop Allotey was educated at Theological Seminary in Legon, Ghana; the Federation of Selly Oak Colleges in Birmingham, England; and the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

He was a devoted husband and the proud father of two daughters and a son, and a loving grandfather to one granddaughter. He will be remembered for his deep faith, his commitment to the Church, and his warm and generous spirit.
